Places of articulation.

Bilabial 

The lips come together (example: /p/, /b/, /m/). 

Labiodental 

The lower lip touches the upper teeth (example: /f/, /v/). 

Dental 

The tip of the tongue touches the upper teeth (example: / ș /, /ð/). 

Alveolar 

The tip of the tongue contacts the ridge of the teeth (example: /t/, /d/,/l/, /s/,/n/, /z/).  

Palato-alveolar

The tip of the tongue comes into contact with the alveolar ridge.  

Palatal 

The body of the tongue approaches the hard palate (example: /j/). 

Velar 

The back of the tongue comes in contact with the soft palate (example: /k/, /J/, / ƾ /). 

Glottal 

Constriction occurs at the glottis (example: /ݦ /h/).
