Raising intonation

Raising intonation, represented with ↗, indicates insecurity, polar questions (yes/no) or politeness. Iyabode (2011) emphasizes its use in questions such as "Are you ↗coming?" (¿Vas a venir?). (p. 71), where the rising tone requests confirmation. 

It also appears in declaratives turned into questions, such as "You're ↗ready?" (¿Estás listo?), whose grammatical structure appears affirmative but the intonation transforms them into interrogatives (Iyabode , 2011, p. 72).
