Define falling intonation and write two sentences as examples.
Falling intonation
The Falling intonation, marked with the symbol ↘, is characterized by conveying certainty or finality in discourse. According to Iyabode (2011), this pattern is typical in declarative sentences (p. 70), such as "She lives in ↘Paris." (Vive en París) where the speaker expresses information that he or she considers definite.
In addition, it appears in interrogative word questions (wh-questions), such as "What's your ↘name?" (¿Cuál es tu nombre?), where the drop in tone signals a concrete response expectation (Iyabode O, 2011, p. 70).
Example
"The meeting starts at ↘nine." (La reunión comienza a las nueve).
"Where did you put the ↘keys?" (¿Dónde dejaste las llaves?).
